SERVICES
NURSING
Under the supervision of the vice president of nursing, nursing care is provided 24 hours a day. The staff consists of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants and unit service coordinators. Nursing managers on each unit are responsible for coordinating all nursing services and related care.
MEDICAL SERVICES
Medical and professional service include medicine, family practice, cardiology, geriatrics, dentistry, podiatry, radiology, pulmonary rehabilitation, psychiatry, surgery, ophthalmology and orthopedics. All of the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center consultants and sub-specialties are available to Trump Residents.
SOCIAL WORK
Social Work intervention begins within 48 hours of the resident's arrival. An evaluation is formulated through contact with both resident and family to determine the nature of the resident's home environment, the family support system, the resident's level of past and current physical functioning as well as emotional strengths and coping skills.
A discharge plan will be formulated for the resident based on the expected level functioning at the completion of their therapy regiment. This may include a return to their home in the community with home care, or referral to an alternative level of care facility (nursing home, assisted living, adult home, etc.). Information can also be provided about available community resources such as financial assistance, home delivered meals, home care agencies, equipment vendors and much more so as to ease the transition back to community living.
An even more important aspect of the social worker's role is to provide mental health services to residents and families. Because rehabilitation residents, as well as those who reside in Trump Pavilion as their home, have typically undergone a major physical and emotional trauma, they often display periods of depression or anxiety. Counseling services are aimed at helping residents through this difficult period. Services include ongoing support groups for residents and families as well as individual sessions.
